Thomas Edison Center at Menlo Park

Still awaiting final approval from NJDP (New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Division of Parks and Forestry), at which time a major fundraising campaign will commence, the leadership of the Thomas Edison Center at Menlo Park is excitedly anticipating bringing to life the SSP designed facility. It will be the foundation of an interactive, inviting community science/technology center. The goal of the new Center is to be a point of departure for the exploration of the amazing Edison discoveries that took place in Menlo Park, as well as energize people to pursue their inner innovator.

SSP’s design expands the size of the current Center exhibit space significantly. The new exhibit space will look out at the site’s large Edison Memorial Tower that is beautifully lit by a huge lightbulb at the top. There will be much needed space to display important historical artifacts now buried in storage units. Upon completion, it will truly bring to light Edison’s inventive work at Menlo Park, where he applied for approximately 400 patents on inventions small and large.
