Newly Approved Community Center Project Designed to Bring People Together
Pennsauken, NJ – With the mission of being a warm and welcoming gathering place for all residents, a main design component of the newly approved Pennsauken Community Center project will be an inviting lobby featuring an open floor concept. SSP Architects designed this historic multi-million-dollar project – made possible entirely through federal funding, without impacting municipal taxes.
Filled with natural lighting, the lobby will be connected to a café offering refreshments to visitors – turning the area not only into an entrance space, but also a place for small gatherings and socializing. Additional design features created in the SSP Architects plan include a walking/running track at the mezzanine level, multipurpose rooms that can be converted into a single, sizeable space with both indoor and outdoor options.
“It has been exciting to work with Pennsauken officials to create a community center designed to offer so much to township residents. When completed, it will be a beautiful new space where residents can gather for leisure, socializing and recreation,” said Marcus Rosenau, Principal of SSP Architects.
For the athletically inclined, the facility will include indoor basketball, pickleball, and volleyball courts, rooms for fitness classes and locker rooms. Flexible spaces can be utilized for educational seminars, art shows, and blood drives.
Another key feature will be the senior activity room, which will encourage socialization for senior citizens and feature internet/technology access and support. In addition, the Center will feature a small, outdoor amphitheater where musical and theatrical performances can be held.
With SSP’s architectural plan fully approved, the Township’s municipal government is preparing to go out to bid to select a contractor for the project scheduled to be completed in 2025.
