SSP Architects celebrates 125 years

“We are taking the time to not only reflect on our storied history, but also to celebrate our recent achievements and look ahead at what the next year, decade, and century might bring.”

In recognition of their outstanding accomplishments, contributions, SSP is proud to be celebrating our 125th anniversary this year. Founded in 1891 by one of the state’s first licensed architects, Peter C. Van Nuys, the firm has continuously grown and evolved. Most recently known as Shive/Spinelli/Perantoni in the 1980s and 1990s, the firm is now known simply as SSP Architects.

Reflecting on how the profession and the firm have changed, CEO Jeanne Perantoni remarked that “since the early 1980s, I have seen us go from paper and pencil on drafting boards to full computer automation and building information modeling software. It is amazing to me how project delivery has morphed over the years due to the infusion of technology, yet our basic tenets and concepts remain as our guiding principles.”

While celebrating our past, we are looking forward to a bright future. According to COO Scott Mihalick, “We are taking the time to not only reflect on our storied history, but also to celebrate our recent achievements and look ahead at what the next year, decade, and century might bring. This year alone, we have expanded our office, unveiled a new logo, overhauled our website, and administratively restructured ourselves to be in a position to best deliver our services and meet our clients’ needs.”

We celebrate the legacy of 1891. We work hard and produce results for our clients today. What will our world look like in another 125 years, in 2141? We can’t wait to find out with you.
